The beach

Langa
On the 2nd of march 2011, James and I decided to go to the beach. James and I setted up the mat. We had lunch. After that James went for a swim. James went past the flag. We had a game which was to go the farest.

I felt that I was in danger. I imagined that I was going to drown then I went back to shore. James was struggling. He didn’t had enough strength to go further because he didn’t digest his stomach. James was drinking salt water as he was swimming. The lifeguard saw james drowning, he was shouting for medic. The lifeguard took a boat to rescue James. I felt fearful when james was drowning. I thought that he won’t survive but luckily the boat saw he they pulled him out in the water. James was drenched in water.

I was filled with surprised when the lifeguard came with james back to shore. James scurried to the lifeguard and thanked him for rescuing him. The lifeguard said “that’s what I do”. We packed our stuffed and shoved it in the car then drove away.

The theme of the story is to never past the flag.

Fear

Fear

As the sun was rising up, Drake and Josh were getting ready to go on a camping trip with the school. Drake packed his bag while Josh was putting his shoes on. Josh forgot to pack his bag, instead he just went to school. They arrived at school. Drake and Josh were in the same class. Since the whole school went in the bus, Drake and Josh sat together. They talked and talked till they reached  the campsite. The sky was pitch black so everyone had to go sleep.

Everyone woke up. They had to dress themselves in their running gear because they were going on a bush walk. They started to walk up the the hill and through the tunnel. Drake could smell fear from the tunnel so he just went around it. drake got lost so he went back to where he came from. Two days went past and Drake was freezing like ice. As the sun rised Drake had nothing to eat for three days. Josh went out to find Drake. Drake and Josh were lost in the middle of the mountain. They saw a helicopter. They screamed loud but the helicopter didn’t hear them.

Drake and Josh found their way to the campsite. They were so excited to see their friends and their friends were so happy to see them to. As they went back to school, they had a celebration.

The theme of the story is to face your fears.

Ancient Egypt

Langa

Walt: write a well sequence story set in Ancient Egypt.

A famous scribe who couldn’t think of a story.

Late in the afternoon there was a famous scribe who couldn’t think of a story to write about. He went out of the temple and went to stalk at the slaves working how to build up the pyramid. He saw a slave slaking of, then he saw a scary guard. A guard shrieked at the slave to get a move on.

The scribe waked all the way to the Nile River. The scribe saw 8 robbers walking across the river to steal the Egyptians gold. One of the tower watchers alerted the the guards that there were some robbers coming. One guard threw their spears at them. The pointy bit of the spear went straight through one of the robbers shoulder. All the robbers surrendered. After that on the next day, they became slaves. Guards treated them like animals.

The scribe got caught from the tower watcher. One of the tower watcher told one of the guards that there was a stalker. The guard was running a fast as a cheetah. The scribe got away from the guard. He scribe was lost. He had an idea. He said in his mind that the sun always rises in the east. He saw the Nile River close by. He followed the stream all the way to where the Egyptians lived.

The scribe went back to the temple and he wrote a fascinating story about what he did in two days.

The theme of the story is to always think of a story before you write something.

I'm spinning

To play this game, you have to flick the little peg then it will spin. If it stops on the red or green side then the red or green side will win. It is a fair wagame because you don’t know where it will land.
Everyone except Kelvin and I didn’t get a 50 50 chance. On our first go and second go,  Kelvin and I 13 out of 20 greens and 7 out of 20 reds. Our third go was a 50 50 chance. But our last go,
Mrs Ramkolowon told us to spin 30 times. Green
had 10 out of 30 and red had 20 out of 30. We can write 1/2 by doing decimals, percentages and fractions.

Decimal:0.5
Faction:50/100
Percentage:50%

Rain

rain rain I can’t stop the rain
and then everyone starts to complain
the rain pours on my head
and I can feel the rhythm of it
the rain comes in bucket loads
and there are floods on the roads
the rain keeps on falling on my head
the rain drums on the roofs
but the roof is like waterproof

Should soft drugs be decriminalised?

Walt: write and opinion.

I think drugs need to be decriminalised because it’s not good for the young siblings because they learn from their older brothers or sisters. It should be illegal because when you grow up you will be just like your friends that is why you need to choose the right friends. What I know about drugs it that it can make you go high and makes the brain work differently in a bad sense. Drugs is not good for you because it can give you lung cancer.

Probably a favourite

Walt: to figure out the puzzles.

To play this game you have to remember where you have clicked the wrong match. It was a little bit difficult for me because I am not good at remembering things. I got better and better at this game. I think the teacher can do some challenging works.

information report

Langa

Walt: write an information report.

The Nile river

The Nile River was good to use in wars. Because when The outsiders try to steal the Egyptians gold, the only way for the robbers to steal their gold is walk across the Nile River. Once if the robbers make it halfway across the Egyptians make their move to kill them. Now the robbers won’t harm the Egyptians.

The written word

The name (hieroglyphics) in Greek means sacred carving. When the ancient Greeks arrived in Egypt, they saw hieroglyphics on tombs and temple walls. Hieroglyphics were symbols in everyday life. Hieroglyphics were also good to calculate mathematical problems.

Scribes

Scribes are also known as writers. The scribes main tool is called a kolomas. A kolomas was made by a six inch (fifteen-centimeter) reed. It’s ends were chewed by scribes to make it like a brush like tip, It was similar to drawing or painting. The scribes colour ink was only red or black.

Mummies

First the brain was removed but not the heart. After the brain was drained they salted the body. Cloth was stuffed in the body to keep in shape. Next they oiled the body and wrap it up with lots of bandages. It helps

Mum Stepped.......

Walt: use better words.

Mum stepped in the principal's office. The principal Mum everything about Tommy’s behaviour. Mum was disappointed in Tommy’s behaviour then she punished him for a month.

As they drove back home, Mum was still arguing about Tommy. Mum yelped at Tommy to never be naughty again at school. Tommy afraid of his Mum. Mum was as angry as a big bull. Tommy imagine the looks of Mum’s face if she was a bull with the mist coming out of her enormous nose.

James was all grown up. In college, he got straight A’s in every subject. But the only thing was that he was irresponsible with all his things. There were two great thing about Tommy And James. First James was the enthusiastic and smart. Second Tommy is the naughty and annoying.

As Tommy’s punishment was over he began to be kind and not talking back to Mum. James was getting the hang of it by trying to be responsible for the first time.

Matariki

Matariki - Maori New Year

Walt: explain the Maori contributions to time.

Intro
Matariki is a time for remembering the dead and celebrating a new life. All around the north of New Zealand, people are celebrating Matariki. At the beginning of June, the seven bright stars rise in the eastern sky. A few weeks later, the new moon will appear in the north.

Beliefs
Matariki is the maori name for the cluster of stars. It rises just once a year in the late May or early June. Matariki means the “eyes of God” or “little eyes”. According to myth, when Ranginui, the sky father and Papatuanuku, the earth mother got separated by their children, the God of winds became so angry that he tore out his eyes and threw them into the heavens.

Traditional custom
People gathered during Matariki to survive the winter months, to remember the past and plan a New Year. Traditions and teachings were passed from generation to the next. Matariki was a time to prepare the land of spring to plant vegetables. The sharing of kai was very important and showed respect to the visitors.

Area

Walt: use tiles to cover the lounge floor.

We were using tiles to cover our imaginary lounge floor. Our tiles were rectangular tiles. We did it because we were learning about area. Our tiles couldn’t fit so we had no choice. We had to cover the outsides of our imaginary lounge floor. Some of us used different tiles to cover our surfaces like colourful tiles to cover the bathroom floor. What I had noticed about the others was that they had some colourful tiles. Everyone in the orange group done good because there's were amazing and beautiful.

Cross Country

As we warm up to get ready to run
I just kept watching the sun
Mr Hendricks told the classes from 1-12 to go
I was always 8th to last because I was too slow

As I jog through the creek
My legs went weak
I was zig zagging past the others
As I saw their mothers

Huffing and puffing
starting to sweat
Dripping as fast as a jet

I am nearly there
O.M.G this is a nightmare
I see the finish line
I went past then Mr H said “fine”
